We are promoting “serve” events through the Coachella Valley over the 40 Days Of Love with the vision that every man, women and child would authentically be loved by at least one follower of Jesus Christ. We are posting events (with dates, times, locations, and number of volunteers needed, along with a short description). Please see contact info for how you can be invovled. This excerpt is for The Narrow Door. View all serve opportunities.

The Narrow Door Serve Days

The Narrow Door is a volunteer-driven, faith based organization that finds the needs of the Coachella Valley and meets them above and beyond. Imagine Valley churches and other community partners working together to support their neighbors and in the process making positive measurable changes. To achieve this goal, The Narrow Door actively seeks out local church partners and service organizations to become our volunteer base. Currently there are over 50 churches and faith based organizations currently involved. Ten of our church partners have taken on special roles by adopting communities. These groups deliver food boxes monthly, start community based Bible studies, provide children’s activities as well as clean-up and fix-it projects.

Description: Each Saturday volunteers meet at our building to help load and distribute food boxes to families in our local communities. We partner with the local churches in the area and rather than having our families come to us we go to them, door-to-door. This gives us the opportunity to develop relationships and truly learn about their concerns and needs. This also allows us to ask if we can pray with and for them. Currently we are serving from 600 to 1200 families a month; that is 3000 to 5000 people.

2. The Refuge:

Description: Many circumstances can lead a person or family to homelessness, but few exist that will help lead them out. We believe when you shake the hand of someone in need that you can no longer ignore the issue, because it becomes real. The Refuge and C.O.T.S. provide an opportunity for the served and those serving to come together and share a meal, hear the Message of hope and offer encouragement. The Narrow Door provides on average 760 hot meals a month to those living on the streets and surrounding communities across the Valley. In addition to hot meals, we provide clothing, blankets and hygiene items and bring out doctors every Tuesday.

4. Food Boxing

Time: 9:00am – 11:00 am

Description: Join us for our monthly food boxing every 3rd Saturday of the month. This is a great opportunity for the entire family to serve by packing up the food boxes filled with nonperishable goods that will be distributed to families in need throughout the month.
